About me and the Club

Pre-history
Hi there! My name is Kristina. I have been teaching English for over 7 years now. During this time I have traveled and volunteered in the USA, learned Spanish in Spain, German in Germany, settled down in Munich and gained a lot of experience in teaching people from different cultures. I got my TEFL teaching certificate prepared my students for international exams and helped them find their dream job. My dreams though were to have an English speaking and book club where my students could develop their skills in a friendly and casual atmosphere. But as usual - either lack of time, or lack of energy.... The idea remained an idea. And finally, in May 2024, I chose my first book - and it has started!
My “English by Books” is first of all an educational project, which was created for all those who already have a sufficient level of the language (B1+) and experience difficulties in reaching a confident B2 or C1, but also love books and would like to start reading in a foreign language or read more, learn to work effectively with vocabulary and grammar and make English a part of their everyday life.

In all the years of teaching experience I have had different students, but most of them were exactly at Intermediate level. And there is no such rapid development, and therefore it is very easy to lose motivation. I guess many of you know this feeling of stagnation, when you do something weekly, listen, watch, have found a suitable and interesting book, tried to read, but it's as if you are not moving forward, and after a couple of pages of constant reference to Google Translate, the words that were translated in the beginning have already been forgotten, and there is no desire to read further.
I would like to help my students regain confidence in themselves and teach them how to work with the material properly: not just to translate unfamiliar words and phrases, but to see the structure, guess the meaning from the context, and use grammar as a clue. Reading books in the original is a great way to build Vocabulary, and the format of the speaking club creates a friendly and comfortable atmosphere where everyone can express their opinions and practice Speaking with different participants.

In K-Lang we will have active individual work (30-50 pages per week), a weekly plan with chapter-by-chapter vocabulary lists, several vocabulary exercises, and online group meetings every Sunday or Monday. All in all, such a book marathon=)

K-Lang English Book Club for all who want to succeed in learning and reading. A book overview for 2024.

But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans, the lonely, brilliant, Nobel-prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with – of all things – her mind. True chemistry results.
Like science, life is unpredictable. Which is why a few years later, Elizabeth Zott finds herself not only a single mother, but the reluctant star of America’s most beloved cooking show, Supper at Six.

My students' reviews:

Kristina is a great tutor:) I was looking for a tutor to help me to prepare for IELTS. I needed to understand the written part and practice speaking. Kristina helped me to get to grips with the structure of the essay and most importantly taught me how to describe different types of graphs, which were initially the most difficult for me to figure out . Kristina gives detailed feedback on each assignment and draws attention to points that can be improved. I especially liked the selection of grammar assignments based on my needs, so it was very convenient to review the material and learn new structures for more advanced writing. The lessons were held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, so it was easy and fun to practice some of the speaking part, as it felt like just chatting with a friend. I also realized how much I missed speaking English, I really missed it during the years of closed borders:) As a result, in 3 months of preparation IELTS passed on 8, although my initial goal was to pass the threshold of 6.5 for admission to the master's program! So thank you Kristina for helping me prepare for the exam, and I recommend her to everyone if you plan to take IELTS!

If you are ready to face all your fears related to language learning and “speaking” and overcome them with confidence - you have come to the right place! Friendliness, competence, individual approach, extensive knowledge, ability to motivate - this is all about Kristina! I definitely recommend her.

Before starting classes, Kristina asked me about my goals, sent me a placement test, and then she provided me some books that are used in the classes. In my case, the lessons alternate between grammar and conversation on everyday topics, creating classes productive, uncomplicated and funny. She always observes frequent mistakes and provides extra materials to explain it. Kristina helps me a lot to enrich my vocabulary and reduce my accent. I strongly recommend her because she motivates her students and never gives up even if they pronounce something dozens of times wrong. Thanks a lot for that :)

Kristina is a wonderful tutor) I was looking for a tutor for a long time and was very picky, I chose Kristina, and I was not mistaken) Kristina approaches lessons and homework very responsibly, always in touch and responds to messages:)) She keeps a comfortable atmosphere during the lessons and easily conducts a dialogue (thanks to which it is easy to overcome the language barrier), builds a training program depending on what is your goal in learning the language. She is very sensitive to the process and helps you to develop in the language in an easy, non-violent way. She does not points you out for every mistake, but allows you to make mistakes, which eliminates the fear of saying the wrong thing. At the same time she maintains a certain rigor so that the lesson is productive. In addition, Kristina is very responsive, interesting and pleasant personality:) I recommend her!
